/ July 28, 2010I will update this review in the near future.
First, I just noticed that this item is now $5 dollars less than I paid for it on October 26. It is now $105 as compared to $109. Oh well.
I have not used this item yet, as I purchased it because I thought that my other recorder, Olympus DS2, Olympus DS-2 Digital Voice Recorder was dying after three years. The DS 2 did not die. I will be using the WS-510 in transit tomorrow, and have found that unlike the DS 2, the WS-510 came with what I would call a pouch, and it prohibits using the functions of the recorder while it is in the pouch. It looks like Olympus will cheerfully sell me a case that might allow me to use the functions of the recorder (I cannot tell, because the photos of the cases do not show detail). I can buy a Olympus – Case for digital voice recorder or perhaps a Olympus Premium Case – Case for digital voice recorder – black.
This recorder needs one AAA battery. The DS 2 needed two. I am not sure how long they lasted because I constantly forgot to put the thing in sleep mode when I was not using it.
I am only going to use this for voice recording, and if it works as well as the DS 2, I will be happy.

/ July 28, 2010Buyer’s beware. Olympus support is horrible. If you ever lose or damage your software Olympus will not help you get it. I lost my CD when I moved and you can’t download the software anywhere (you can’t even buy it from Olympus). Now I have a completely worthless digital recorder. I’LL NEVER BUY OLYMPUS AGAIN.

Simply the best audio recorder I’ve used and the MP3 player is nice to have.

/ July 28, 2010The recording sound is very clearly. However, if you are using a Mac and would like to save the wma files as mp3, here is what you need to do.
1. Download free Flip4Mac WMV “2.2.3″ version from this link [...] and then save it to Application, and then double click it on it.
2. Download free Switch Sound File Converter for Intel Mac from this link [...] and then save it to Application, and then double click it on it.
3. Now you should have both Switch and Flip4Mac software open and the recorder plug in as you see on left hand side, under Devices when you in Finder.
4. in Switch window, add the wma files you want to convert into Switch window, choose your Output Format as .mp3 and select a location for your Output Folder, and then click Convert.
5. Now you should have a mp3 file, at least I did.
